After over 15 years, I think it's time for me to step away from DA.  Nothing is wrong.  I feel I need to stress this now.  My heart hasn't been in this site for quite awhile, and the upcoming conclusion of my Owariverse blog project marks a good stopping point for things here.

DA has been good to me.  I made friends and found wells of creativity I didn't even know I possessed.  This has been an almost entirely positive experience.  I'm just ready to move on to new frontiers.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me.  I sincerely appreciate it.

You don't need me to tell you about what's happening on Tumblr.  Just know that because of it, I've revamped my retired main blog and turned it into the new home of Captain Satellite.

This is relevant to this account because I will have:

a) Revised versions of old pictures.  These will probably supplant the originals in my gallery.  There is one extreme case where I'm not sure what I'll do, but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

b) Actual new art.  I have said this before, but it is really going to happen because I have no choice.

Now, about DeviantArt and this Eclipse business...

I've been drifting away from DA as a community, so I am not sure how this will affect me.  I see steps have been taken to deprecate some of the silly ridiculous stuff that made DA fun.  I'm going to keep my gallery up if I can help it mostly because this is the only place available to me where I can upload my full-res versions of my art.  I should probably try to organize it better, but I also am not sure what that will involve until these changes fully take hold.

Bottom line, I'm not sure there is a place for someone like me in the new DA, but I intend to stay until I'm forced out.  In what capacity I'm going to be participating is still up in the air.

Contrary to how it may seem, I've never left DA.  I sometimes go days without visiting, and my activity is pretty light.  But I'm still here.

My last submission was over two years ago. I've made noise about doing new stuff, and actually started on it more than once.  It still hasn't happened.  This bothers me, a lot.

There are actually a lot of feelings mixed in with my gallery, and a lot of sadness over friends lost.  But it's time to move on from all of that and time to get back to work. It might not accomplish anything in the long run, but my own little world is what allows me to express myself in ways I can't do any other way.

First, some editing. Then, some digging and some scanning.  Then, hopefully, the real fun will begin.

That didn't really go the way I envisioned it at all.

In brief, I've scaled back my participation on DA during 2017. This is not a reflection on any of the wonderfully talented people I follow here. I need to focus in different directions, and while I plan to hang around, I'm just not going to be as present as I once was.

I hope to get my own creativity back on track in 2018. When I do, I have every intention of sharing any new art here. I'm just not sure when that will be.

I just wanted to pop my head out and say hello to everyone out there.  I haven't submitted anything in awhile, but I do have some stuff at various stages of readiness.  When will it actually BE ready?  That's a good question.  I guess we'll find out together!
